A Message from Rev Timothy D Storck
Jesus said in John 16, "In this world you will have tribulation." He is right, we all face tribulation be it in our homes, workplaces, and communities. But Jesus has overcome the world by His death and resurrection. So come and join with others who are struggling with the tribulations of life, and receive Jesus, who is our Light and our Salvation.

What We Believe
Nicene CreedI believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.https://www.lcms.org/about/beliefs

FAQs
Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Michigan District, LCMS. Each week you will find us gathering around God's gifts, His Word, Baptism, and Holy Communion, for the forgiveness of our sins, eternal life, and salvation. Our worship services are in the traditional style led by the pipe organ or piano. The Lord's Supper is offered each Sunday.
Q: I've never been to church before. How does this work? Do I make a reservation? Do I just show up?
A: You can just show up! There is no need to make a reservation or to call beforehand. We have space for you, and we often have people just show up.
However, you might feel more comfortable if you talked with us before arriving.
Even if you don’t talk with us before coming, you are welcome here.
Q: What should I expect in the worship service?
A: The focus of our worship is upon Jesus Christ and Him crucified for us sinners. You will immediately notice that the pews are facing the baptismal font, altar, and pulpit. These are the places that God gives us His gifts. At the font God makes us His children by means of His Word and Water. At the altar He gives us His gifts of Body and Blood in, with, and under, the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins. And at the pulpit we hear God's Word explained to us.The Triune God is the One who acts first in worship by His Word and Sacraments, hence the name Divine Worship. We then respond to God's work with our prayers and praise.Portions of the service are repetitive from week to week so that those with learning difficulties, little children, and even those with dementia can participate. Some of what we do is uniquely Lutheran, but most of our traditions traces back to the ancient Church of the West, which spoke Latin. While we speak English today, the songs we sing were originally written in many different languages and cultures, across the span of the last 2,000 years. Most of our worship music is led by the pipe organ.
Q: What about communion?
A: Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! We praise God that you are here today for the Divine Service of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who gives us His living Body and Blood for us to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins. The Scriptures teach that we are to examine ourselves before receiving the Sacrament of the Altar. To that end and for your benefit take a few moments to review the “Christian Questions with Their Answers” on page 329 in the hymnal. We desire that all who commune do so without bringing harm upon themselves for lack of faith in these words, “This is My Body. This is My Blood.” We invite those to commune with us who are confirmed members of Good Shepherd or a sister congregation in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod or one of our sister church bodies. If you have any questions about our practice or any about the Christian faith in general, please speak with Pastor Storck after the service or during the week.
Q: How do most people dress?
A: You will see all types of dress at Good Shepherd - jeans as well as dresses and suits.
Q: Are children welcome?
A: Good Shepherd's worship is multi-generational. We invite people of all ages to gather around God's gifts.Children are encouraged to worship with their parents. We understand children can be noisy or fidgety. That's ok. If you must step out of the sanctuary to help them calm down, that's ok, but don't stay out very long. Please sit toward the front of the sanctuary. Your child will appreciate being able to see what is happening in the chancel. We don't offer ""children's church"" because we want our children to worship with us.
Q: Where do I park?
A: We have ample onsite parking.
